Day 12 - Halloween

Cats did not seem too freaked out by the fireworks the neighbours were setting off. They were more scared of me yesterday when I came home smelling like Joe. They avoided me. By morning, however, they were stomping around my head. Tonight, they were quite affectionate, Arjun purring non-stop, kneading the back of the seat, and then in a fit of ecstacy, rolling off right off it -- landing on his feet of course. I was trying to read on the big, rocking lazy chair, and Ashok jumped up on the back several times, causing me to scream as I thought I was going to fall over backwards.

Day 10

Arjun started sleeping in the bed with me a few days ago, but as I'm a rough sleeper, i fear I kick him off during the night. I hope he doesn't resent that he is no longer able to take up the whole bed himself.

Ashok entertained me today by playing in a bag. He will chase a tossed mousey sometimes too. Arjun reliably leaps, pounces and bats at mousies.

Day 9

Arjun has spoken. What it means I am still not clear. He uttered "Mreh rhehn rrrahr" and I repeated it back to him, but he stared, as if to say, "How dare you say that."

Day 8

I vaguely recall awaking to what felt like a powder puff pressed lightly to my face. I am unsure as to whether that 'puff' was Arjun or Ashok. I have reason to believe Ashok, as he is the more insistent one when it comes to Kibble, but Arjun, the Fearless Warrior is the one who will approach me closely. I know this as I have pretended to sleep to observe their behaviour.

Day 6

Arjun will now eat with if I am in the room with coaxing. He seems to understand simple phrases such as "Come Arjun. Eat. Food" but we still need to work on "Come Arjun, fold the laundry in the basket."

Arjun beside amusing me with his Pouncing Action, has begun Purr Operation.

Day 5

I wonder if I am giving them enough food. Ashok seems to always be asking for food, whether there is some in his bowl or not. I have not seen Arjun eat food yet, but Ashok is always eating or asking for food. Perhaps Ashok is eating for two?

Day 4

Success. Arjun cannot resist the Dangling Shoelace. Oh how high he jumps!

Day 3

The cats still evade my attempts to use them as the source of my amusement. I bribe them with treats. I bide my time. Tomorrow, I have a new tactic to try.

Day 3

The cats have started to observe me with curiosity. I believe they suspect I am Bringer of Kibble as they wait by the door for me to get home. They circle their empty food dishes, but when I fill them, they run away -- torn between the need for sustanence and loyalty to their humans.

Day 2

The cats appear to observe me with fear. Perhaps it is only apprehension, but I suspect they think I have something to do with the disappearance of their humans
